Ideas for Local Initiatives
Best Start Resource Centre has planned provincial media strategies. You can support these strategies through local initiatives.
- Consider providing local radio, print media and TV with media ready articles or local interest stories.
- Plan a local launch event to support the provincial campaign launch event.
- Consider providing local parents and service providers with information and/or training events on physical activity.
- You may want to send information to a wider variety of community care providers, such as social and recreational community organizations, early years community organizations, after-school programs, sport retailers, etc.
Health Care Providers
Health care providers have an important role in promoting physical activity in the early years. Consider putting up the campaign poster in the waiting room, and giving parents a copy of the campaign brochure. Encourage parents to spend time being active with their children each day, and to reduce the amount of time their children spend watching TV and playing computer games.
